My takeaway from the manufacturer claims that the manicure can last three weeks or whatever, is that they can be sneaky about the types of activities you can do with the gel stuff. Also, maybe you aren't getting the type of top coat on that can help preserve the whole thing.

It's similar though, to the types of manufacturer claims that mobile phones have. They'll say you can get a certain amount of hours or days between charges, but not tell you exactly how to achieve that feat.

So, I think manufacturer claims are kind of mysterious since, in the real world, the results fall short of the claims. I wouldn't call them lies exactly, but the real world use falls short.
