Lol, shattered sanity. I used to be called a walking jukebox.
My long term memory is good. Once I know something, I know it forever. That's why I still remember when women got the right to vote in Lichtenstein (1975, seriously) - one of those useless facts that will stick with me forever. It was listed in one of those "fact boxes" in one of my secondary school history books.
My short term memory is appalling. If I get distracted for like, 30 seconds, I'll forget what I was talking about. This doesn't just happen occasionally, it happens a lot. I used to be one of those people who could read two chapters for a test just once and then ace the test the following day. Once, in 7th grade, our teacher told us to read like, three different fables in English (I'm Norwegian), and she said (mostly as a joke, I think) that if we wanted to we could memorise one of them and recite it in class. So guess who did that. I read it four or five times, it was like 500 words or something, and I knew it, word for word.
I was hypomanic a lot that year.
Funnily enough, a while back my sister was like, "Hey, since you're the one with the amazing memory, can you remember when those kittens were born?" (It happened over the Christmas break when I was home for a couple of weeks.) I was like, LOL. Then I realised that I DID remember. She wanted to know if it was before or after new year's. I was able to tell her the exact date. Apparently this makes me the one with the superior memory, ha!
If only.
