I experienced this in school as well... honestly, I think it has a lot more to do with the insecurities of the ppl who are unkind to you than it does with the way you think, speak or act. In general and esp. in HS, most ppl are very concerned with "fitting in". They tend to be very self conscious of being unpopular and being made fun of, so much that they will avoid expressing any part of themselves that may not "fit the perceived "status quo". Unfortunately, some are so desperate to be liked that they will be cruel to those who remain true to themselves. It is highly irrational but somehow they think that picking on others raises their own status in the group. Sadder even is that a lot of ppl do not "grow out" of being bullies, and continue this behaviour into adulthood; and are often even reward for it. This is refered to as "pack mentality"...they believe they are "weeding out the weak"...but in truth it is just bullying. Fortunately, once you are out of HS, your world will become much lrgr and you most likely will find a great group of ppl who value you for your integrity and willingness to speak your mind...There will always be bullies but they will be easier to ignore. .. "YOUR VALUE DOES NOT DECREASE BY ANOTHER'S INABILITY TO SEE YOUR WORTH.."
