Hi Nimitri. Welcome to PC.
I found making friends online is very similar to making friends in 3D. Someone mentions a topic I'm interested in (or I mention something they are interested in). We have some back and forth discussion about that topic. On of us brings up a different topic and we discuss that. Eventually we start finding interests in common and start to develop a friendship.
You mentioned you like to read. There is a social group at PC that can be found here...

There's also a subforum within this forum for discussing books, movies, TV and music. Maybe that would interest you.
PC is HUGE with a ton of members. Why not poke around the forums and see what interests you? Then you can either start a thread (topic) or post to a thread that's already going.
Don't be discouraged if you don't make friends immediately. Again, just in 3D it takes time to get to know people.
