Because I'm a music student, this is a topic that comes up on a regular basis with my uni therapist. We have discussed opera (which she loves) as I am a classically trained singer. She is always saying that she would love to hear me sing, and she even picked a song, a piece called "Dido's Lament" which is the saddest thing ever, lol. But she thinks it is beautiful and has apparently told her children she wants it for her funeral. I said I would sing it.
I told her about my "operafying" game that I usually play with my best friend. We pick a pop song and then I turn it into an aria. She thought it was fantastic, and in the following session she said she had been listening to Elton John on her drive in to work that day, and she'd wondered what it would sound like if it was operafied. I was quite amused by that.
We have also talked about the movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" and how the music is an important part of the narrative because the horse doesn't talk. The music speaks for him. I have told her to go watch it. She says her daughter loves the movie and has also told her to watch it in the past. I am writing an essay about music in animation, so we've had a few conversations about it.
