I have had adult acne, I'm now 28 but it drove me insane. Every time I knew I'd be going to a party, etc. the first thing I'd think is 'is my skin going to look bad?'. I saw a few doctors, and I finally found one who knew what he was doing, I even had bacne, one of the first things he asked was if it was on my back too. Well he put me on birth control, because acne around the jawline is quite often the cause of hormones. And I'm NOT kidding when I say it has completely solved my problem.
It wasn't overnight, but I have not looked back. I can't even believe it was that bad. So if you are able to give it a go I would say go for it, I've personally found no issues with it emotionally. In fact because I skip the sugar pills I find I no longer get the hormonal emotional roller coaster I used to (not just a bit down, but suicidally depressed every month on cue). The only thing I've had with it is the boobage region is quite sore, say if someone tries to hug me, haha. But I'm happy with it if that's the worst that is happening. Hopefully it could be the same for you (no negative emotional effects I mean, not chest pain, haha).
