Actually, any non chat host member (aka a regular member) can only see the most recent part of the chat upon entry to any given chat room, like the 20 or 30 most recent things said by chatters. They don't have access to the chat logs like admins and mods do. I'm not sure about Chat Hosts either, but I can look into that.
