This is not true - I am a bad asthmatic and suffer from very bad anxiety and panic disorder and one DOES trigger the other. During a panic or anxiety attack, your body goes into its natural fight or flight defense and produces histamines. Histamines cause the bronchodialators in the lungs to become inflamed and inflamed bronchodialators trigger asthma. EVERY time I suffer a panic attack I have an asthma attack and the inhalers and pills dont work - my lungs completely shut down and I always have to go to the ER for a series of nebulizer treatments. Stress and anxiety are the top cause for asthma attacks - above all allergies - pets, danger, mold, combined. I have a team of doctors, including an allergiest and pulmonologist and respitory therapist that taught me that anxiety is the number 1 cause of asthma attacks.
