Way to go on the weight loss!
Personally, I hate shaving, for all the reasons you've given. I wish it had never been thought of. But I conform to societal standards of what's acceptable because I feel uncomfortable otherwise.
Someone once told me that in New Zealand or Australia it's quite common for women not to shave their underarms.
