Before I even got to the end of your post I was thinking 'OCD' as well. It would make sense that your symptoms would wax and wane with stress. I used to have similar issues and cognitive behavioral therapy really helped a lot. My OCD is now "in remission." I would definitely see a therapist - if you can't afford to, then at least get a CBT book.
