Hello Robyn51: A psychiatrist once told me that using the hands requires a lot of the brain's capacity. So if one is feeling depressed or anxious, if one can find something to do that requires a lot of hand activity, it will take up a lot of the brain's capacity & prevent those areas from being drawn into the depressive or anxious state.
