From 4th grade through 11th I didn't cut my hair at all. It was down past my butt. I also wore all black - I wasn't a goth, it was the depressed side. Then winter recess of my 11th grade year I cut it shoulder length and started dressing more fashionably. That was my first up-swing. During that time though, I'd change my nail color/pattern (not professionally - I've never paid to have my nails done, I'm pretty good at it myself) along with all my moods. People say you can't judge a book by its cover, but I think we often make our outward appearances reflect what is going on inside.
