Sorry you are struggling. Glad that you have the courage to try and get sober. Unless you need a medical detox from very high consumption withdrawals to prevent DTs - in which case they would use Valium or Librium, I would try and do it straight up ball out style. OR go the Antabuse route.
I think it was important to me to feel the full pain and misery of my early recovery to really get humble enough to understand how sick I had become. I don't know if I would have found lasting recovery if I had watered down the experience with another substance.
