The other day I won tickets to a science centre in Edinburgh. I live 1 hour and a half away from Edinburgh. My friend and I were meant to be going tonight as part of The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We are on the guest list. She has had to cancel as she is unwell due to antibiotics she is on.

Thing is ALL my friends cancel on me ALL the time. I'm peeved off and I have been crying I hate my friends when this happens. I put so much effort into making time for them to ***** on me that I would be happy to have none of my friends. I can't tell them as I don't want to lose them in reality

How do you deal with rejection/disappointment?

I can completely relate to you when it comes to having people in my life who flake out on plans, sometimes last minute. Also, I struggle with disappointment of any kind and feel it intensely when things don't work out. As far as friends go, I am also the same way in the sense that I don't want to lose them. However, if there's someone who stands out as being especially hard to rely on, I would stop including them in as many plans and not expect much out of them.

Also, I try to make myself open to meeting new friends so that I can try to focus my energy on the people who are more likely to be there. Something else I do to try to deal with disappointment: expect that people are limited in what they are able to commit to and come up with a "Plan B" if things don't work out, so that your wellbeing does not rely on what others do. It helps me be more in control of my emotions so that I do not rely on others too much for my own happiness. I know it's easier said than done sometimes though. ((HUGS))
