I would have done well a century or so ago as a lighthouse keeper on some northern island or peninsula. Where the only visitors are only from the tender or rare vessel passing thru. As it is I live in the country. My neighbor who lives a half mile away built a pole barn for their ranch and put up a mercury light. I've imagined sniping out that stinking light pollution countless times. I get grumpy if we get traffic on our road. It's so bad. My husband and I dream of buying a few hundred acres (note: "dreaming") and living in a nice little cabin up north on a river - lakes are often too populated these days and I despise the sound of speed boats and echoed drunken voices. We would be deep enough in the woods to have a natural buffer, but enough light to have our garden, orchard, and bees. We'd have the land for hunting and the water for fishing, just have to make a supply run once in a while. Before my illness, I only went to town twice a month, I miss that. Ahh, dreaming...
