I want to know if the therapist is having a feeling because it 1) helps remind me that they are human 2) depending on the reaction (i.e. laughing), prevents me from immediately jumping to the conclusion that they are laughing at me or having some sort of adverse reaction towards me 3) in the case that they are reacting to something completely apart from me and our conversation, it gives me an explanation for the distraction, or connection, or whatever is drawing their attention away from our immediate conversation
I might not always like the feeling they are expressing or why they are expressing it, but I would rather know and have everything out in the open.
