Yes I can relate to this. Sleep has been an issue for me for over 10 years now. I have periods where it is better, but the majority of the time I struggle to sleep. I have tried sleep meds, and they really do help, but they are not a long term fix unfortunately.
I have found that not trying to force sleep is actually helping me sleep earlier. I just try to relax and wind down, without trying to make myself sleep and often I feel sleepy enough to drift off. The minute that I think, right I have to be asleep so I got x amount of hours a night I am guaranteed not to sleep. I just have to let it come naturally.Doesn't always work, but it's better than nothing.
