Is your doctor offering some other explanation for your yellow skin?

Could it be possible your doctor really meant that it would be very rare for that kind of reaction to occur, even though he actually used the word 'never'?

Pancreatits can cause yellowing also.

I hope your doctor will attempt to discover why this happened with you if he thinks it was not the Ativan. I think you probably would like to know too!
