I didn't answer the poll, because I really wan't sure how to answer based on my experience. With my last T, I definitely would have answered "older". She was about 20 years older than me, very motherly. I felt safe with her and felt that her age gave her a perspective on things that someone younger might not have and I could just relate to her much better. However, currently I am seeing a T who is exactly my age - and it is fine. I guess for me I'm learning that if I have a good working relationship with the therapist, the age doesn't matter as much to me. Great question - it really got me thinking about my experience!
