DBT was originally designed as an intensive program to be "taught" daily, with the therapist being on-call for support and reinforcement of skills 24/7.
I know that it's practiacally not a feasable thing, but the original thinking behind it was to not only help build skills, but also to build a trusting, stable relationship that could withstand the ups & downs of such intensive work.
The closest I've come to experiencing the original model was through a local psych hospital's iop version. They offered groups 3 times a week, one-on-one contact with the therapist once a week, and a therapist-manned crisis line avaiable 24/7. It wasn't as consistent as the original model of dbt, but more consistant than most others I've tried.
