I saw that this you didn't get any replies & I wanted to give you a bump. If you don't think that you are bipolar & you received the diagnosis, you should talk with your pdoc about it.
Mood stabilisers can be prescribed for treatment resistant depression as well as other mood disorders (e.g. bipolar).
To me, it sounds like an open, honest conversation with your treatment team is needed to review how you feel about the diagnosis and why. Your pdoc may be seeing things that you are not. Keep an open mind as well and listen to what (s)he has to say.
