I think first step is finding out the cause of the depression.
If it's trauma or situational stuff then presumably any pill you take is just going to take the edge off.
If it's a medical problem, a fair amount of detective work might be needed to answer questions like -- is your brain chronically inflamed, is your brain toxic from heavy metals or mold or other poisons, do you have endocrine problems like hypothyroid or hypoadrenal, or severe nutrient deficiencies.
Seemingly all meds and most supplements are at best only going to make you feel better, but won't resolve anything. And in the case of meds, in the long term might make you worse.
