Oy, neighbors. Don't even get me started.
The weird? We had some neighbors a few years back that were very... eccentric, to say the least. Once my mom caught them in the huge field next to our house. There's nothing in the field. No water, no flowers. It's just an empty field that sometimes gets really long grass. Anyway, the woman was laying on a beach towel in a bathing suit. She was sun bathing. In a big, empty field.
Growing up we had a neighbor who was an elderly woman. She lived with her sick husband. I don't know how he was sick, I just remember that he had to have an oxygen tank and it was smoking related. Anyway. She was friends with my mom for many, many years. She and my mom would exchange cassette tapes (they both loved country music), and she would babysit us sometimes while my mom was working. Around the same time she lived there, our newspaper would disappear every Sunday. My mom never thought it was her, had no reason to. Until she moved... and it no longer disappeared. lol
Oh, and the bad? Oy. The bad. Recently we had neighbors across the street who had a dog. The dog was a cute little guy. They weren't very nice to him, though. They would tie him to the back door on a short tether and ignore his barking. My mom, being a dog lover, gave them a long tether and a dog house. They used the long tether, but put the dog house back in our yard. We complained to animal control and the landlord about the dog. Little was done. The landlord did threaten to evict them if they didn't either rehome him, or keep him inside. They moved eventually, so I'm guessing she's a woman of her word.
