Good advice from Raindrop, above. Unlike SSDI, SSI is a benefit based on need, so to get it you are "means tested." The same is true regarding Medicaid. Once you're married, they absolutely will look at total household income. It could substantially reduce your benefit and effect your eligibility for Medicaid.
I'm in a longterm relationship with a man. Part of my reasoning for not marrying him was because I always figured he would eventually qualify for things he couldn't get, if he were married to me. That turned out to be 100% true. I'm so glad, now, of the decision I made.
