I agree that he may just want to get to know you better and see how frequently you take the Xanax before giving you that amount, since it is so addictive. I took Xanax for sleep a few years ago and took it every night, so I refilled the script like clockwork each month. He didn't feel comfortable with that and suggested I wean off it. Once off, he prescribed me klonopin and started with me 30 pills per month. Then it changed to 60, because I wasn't refilling them regularly. A bottle of 60 usually lasts me about 3 months. Some are just careful like that. You could ask to see if that's it.
