Xanax is highly addictive and strong. There might be a reason he is careful prescribing too much of it right away before he even knows you well. It could be insurance concern but I doubt it. My exbf was on bunch of different Meds that he never had limitations on any of that with the exception of Xanax. He was only prescribed limited amount. Have you considered loresapam (Ativan)? Less addictive and milder overall. He might not limit that.
