Don't know if you will find this useful, but if I just had to have something to eat out of habit and not hunger...I would eat things that just take a much longer time to eat. Something like shelled nuts, or jerky, or peanut butter on a spoon. They aren't all healthy, but better than grabbing a bag of chips or cookies where a much larger amount of food can be eaten very quickly.
