No, I don't do the daily "blood letting." LOL Maybe I should. We'll see what this diabetes lady has to say. Don't know what I'd do if the sugar level got too high. I'm not on any meds for that right now.
Doesn't sound like there's much they can do about the pituitary except Hormone Replacement Therapy which is totally different than the HRT that women do when they go through menopause.
Check out these sites that have info on gastric surgery. I found them very informative.
Coastal Center for Obesity
And
Weight Loss Surgery Health Center - WebMD
Make sure you know EXACTLY what you're in for before making up your mind. No way am I done researching the subject at this point. The complications are pretty darn nasty, from what I hear. You also want to make sure your medical team has LOTS of experience doing this kind of stuff! Do you think you can last a whole month on nothing but a protein drink?? There's lots to consider! Then there's the diarreah that lasts the rest of your life.
Something else I learned was that with gastric bypass, you can lose up to 80% of what you need to lose. With the lap-band surgery, you only lose 60% plus you have this nifty little pump hanging out of you that you adjust the tightness of the band with... yourself! I don't think so!! Not me, anyway.
Think about it long and hard, Hon!
