My son is 23 years old.. so raised by me a DID person.. who was DXed about the time he was born. So, at least in the US... your child isn't taken away. I had a set of "sarced rules" - those were internal rules that all alters abided by.
No "littles around our son", we had a set of Mom alters that were consistant - they were brought out just by being with my son... so he saw consistancy with his Mom..

So... DID people make good moms.. they are intelligent, creative, caring, loving...

So you will do just fine...
