I will jump straight in. I am new here and sought the site out to get some feedback on a disturbing dream I had last night.

Dreams come and go but this one remains mostly vivid. It isn't nice so please don't read on if you are easily disturbed, seriously.

I will explain as much as I can remember.

I was in deep sleep and transitioned to a semi conscious REM sleep with the sound of a cat wailing. I was aware that I could see myself and my environment and the window. I could not see the source of the noise out of the window. I live 3 floors up. In my subconscious state I put it down to a cat wailing on heat and waited for it to stop. It did not stop and I eventually realised that it was becoming progressively closer at a slow pace. This went on for what seemed like 30 mins or so though I cannot be sure as still mostly asleep.

Confident that it was nothing more than my initial thoughts I was relaxed and curious. At some point the cat came into view from a distance and was moving as though injured. It looked raggy with damp clumped fur and seemed to be dragging itself in my direction with one of its paws. Oddly I was also aware that I was dreaming and was still relaxed. The cat kept on wailing and getting closer and the clumped, raggy fur had a sticky, very dark red tinge to it which I decided was was blood but could not be sure. That question was answered with dark red drag marks appearing, but not solid drag marks, they were; for want of a better term; token drag marks.

This was a constant for some time until eventually the cat had reached my bed or the foot of my bed, unsure which now but I place it on the bed. Still watching myself in this dream I sat up from my sleep to look properly at the cat. As I did I was revolted. It was in ultimate pain and barely alive having been severed at the hind legs with the head of another quite distinct cat sewn onto its severed torso at the 4 quarter points with a single stitch. The dead head was more brown that the black and dark bloodied barely alive animal.

Of course my immediate reaction was of revulsion and bewilderment at what sort of animal could have done such a thing to a creature, innocent or not. A will to have the culprit found and dealt with and a wish for this to never happen again overwhelmed me. I awoke from sleep in a highly disturbed and revolted state. Both at the dream and the fact that I dreamt it. Flashbacks throughout the day also disturbed me.

So I am open to any feedback or thoughts anyone may have on this or a potential translation of it.
