Sorry for waiting so long to respond.

You probably nailed it. From what I can tell from what research, what I experienced was sleep paralysis and anxiety can indeed cause it. I didn't have anything all that awful happen during my time in the service. My depression started sometime after my first grand mal in 1995 which ended my career. Anxiety didn't show up until 2010 or 2011.

I probably should see a therapist. I stopped in 1999 because she was beyond evil and have been putting off going ever since. I just see my pdoc for 30 minutes every three months.
