I would definitely ask your doctor first before switching to a different drug. The doctor told me that if I need to switch to a different drug, I would have to ask them first and then take the new drug. The reason is because these types of drugs cannot just be stopped completely; they have to be lowered down to the lowest dose and then stopped. So, it is wise to let the doctor monitor you and to advise you.
