The second pit one can risk to fall into as a depressed Christian is that the others want to show God how much they love their neighbor and so they send hurtful messages almost like this: "I (the great helper, almost from Heaven) of course want to include you (the sick, crawling around in your own pit)". Even their body language tells it, one up one down!

I actually don't attend church very much these days because of family problems and I used to be in the center of the liturgical life of the church. I am sure it is hard for my priest to witness. I'm having a huge problem with my daughter. As I am a convert I'm inexperienced with teenagers in the church. My divorce only complicates things even more as does the fact that nobody in my family of origin is in the church. Furthermore my church is located in another town and since I don't have a car I have to get rides or take the bus which means I have to leave early to get there on time . I'm not willing to leave my daughter at home alone so I can go to church as she has substance abuse and mental health problems. It's a big mess. I was actually trying to address that in another forum but I got flamed and I retreated. Maybe this is a better forum for me. Thank you for allowing me to participate .
