thanks for this! It reminded me that moving my focus on to something else besides my illness, my feelings is another option, very beneficial.
Your post has helped jogged me from self-focus to find something else to immerse myself in.

I can remember when this helped in the past - math really made me feel "expanded". I could see its applications beyond the class, not simply in the literal math, but in how thoughts or situations could be "grouped" differently for perhaps different results, how there might be more than just one way to solve a problem.
I remember when Calculus revealed that many of the places we were told stop in an Algebra problem, could be further refined, reduced, solved. This made me think that just because I saw no solution at present maybe, with more information, knowledge, experience, a solution could present itself.
