perhaps you could do something healthy instead - go for a long walk, go for a run or a swim? something which burns energy and helps you feel healthy and reduces frustration and anger too. or there could be other things too - perhaps chatting with somebody who reduces your stress when you talk with them - or the somebody could be a pet (don't expect them to chat back though

)
And you're right. It won't solve anything long-term. Think of the inconvenience and embarrassment cuts and scars can cause.
I hope you manage to find some way of resisting
