Hi,
If this was my dream, here would be my interpretation of it...
When I interpret my dreams, the first thing I consider is the location and the lighting. Why?
I've found that we can choose anywhere at anytime for out dream scenes. the scene is therefore important in "framing in" the dream. So in this dream, I find myself in a bedroom, in the dark, lying on my bed. There is a window to the room. A very interesting selection for a dream...
in my dreams, when I am inside, this is symbolic of what I call a "belief compartment". I have learnt from my dreams and meditations that each of selects approximately 200 different beliefs to create our personality before we incarnate. These "beliefs" are conscious energy filters that filter out our greater reality and form our thoughts and emotions moment by moment.
To confuse you a bit further, I've also learnt that each belief has a negative and a positive polarity. We determine, before we incarnate, the degree of polarity we are going to hold the beliefs.
Each belief then interacts, on a moment by moment basis with the other beliefs to filter our reality and, in effect, create our view of reality. Further, each belief has its own energy vibration which is different than the others.
In each of our incarnations, we therefore send ourselves continuous messages about our beliefs and the dis-ease that each belief creates since they aren't at a neutral polarity.
I have learnt that one of the ways we symbolize this to ourselves is by creating dreams where we are in rooms of different types, sizes and manufacture on different levels.
The rooms are symbols of four or more "belief walls", i.e. each wall is a symbol of a belief that works with the other beliefs that the other walls are a symbol of to produce what I call "belief effects". These are typical of what I call are "surface level beliefs" that we normally talk about like control, sexual desires, etc. If there is any furniture in the rooms, these are also symbols of yet more beliefs that are working with the beliefs symbolized by the walls.
To give you some personal context, whenI first began to record and analyze my dreams, I was mostly in warehouses with lots of boxes or multi-level houses with many rooms, each full of furniture. Over the many years, I have found that the rooms slowly emptied out of their furniture, then I began to see windows through to my greater or higher self and then found myself in rooms where there was only 1 or 2 walls left. I always know I am making progress when I am outside, in the sun. This is a symbol that my higher self is now assisting me, i.e. it's a teaching dream.
So you're likely sitting there reading this thinking "what does this have to do with my seemingly horrific dream with the cat?"
If this was my dream, I am locating the dream in a bedroom. This is a symbol of a place where we change our clothes, i.e. the spiritual beliefs we wear, where we frequently have sex, i.e. our beliefs affecting how we conceive of ourselves and others by gender et al and also where we sleep each night, i.e. places where we leave our bodies and reconnect with our higher self.
I also note that I am lying down on my bed. In my dreams, when I am lying down, upon awakening, I usually groan to myself. Why? It's a symbol that I am not even able to spiritually sit up and take notice of the effects of the beliefs the dream is about. If I am making progress in my dreams relative to a set of beliefs, I find that I am sitting, then standing on my own two spiritual feet, then spiritually walking, running and then flying through a set of beliefs. So, if this was my dream, the good news is that I am spiritually waking up. However, I would realize I have a lot of spiritual heavy lifting ahead of me to do, if I choose to listen to myself and what this dream is telling me.
Next I consider the lighting. This is very important in my dreams for it is a way to symbolize the energy vibrations I am working with. When it's dark, this is a symbol of low vibration beliefs. If there is light coming from within a room, then this is a sign that I am "en-lightening" myself. If there is sun coming in, then this is a symbol my higher self is assisting me.
So in this dream it is dark out. I now know that the beliefs this dream is about are low vibration ones. I want to note to not get depressed by this. As noted above I have found that we are a compilation of different energy vibrations. So I have dreams where I am working with some low vibration beliefs, i.e. it's dark out or darkish, others where the lighting is slowly improving and others where I am out in the sun.
Now I consider people and animals in my dream scenes. We come to the "star of this dream"...the cat.
I could have chosen any animal or person for this dream. Instead I am using a cat. Why?Before I get to the cat, want to make a few points.
I have learnt to use my meditation techniques to "reach my higher self". i then use this to ask myself questions and get directions about dreams and symbols. I have slowly learnt that my higher self doesn't give me "all the keys to the kingdom". It will usually answer my questions in such a way I "know" the answer BUT SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. It will tell me to "figure it out for myself".
This is because when we incarnate each of us has free choice. We get to select our route through the many choices in our lives. We do this to learn about ourselves and about compassion (or lack thereof).
By using my higher self, I have learnt that we use many symbols in our dreams for many different purposes. Regarding animals, I will take a quick detour and tell you a personal story that illustrates how I have learnt...
Many years ago, I had this very short dream where I was looking down upon a dead raven. It's neck was twisted and both of its eyes were popped out. I awoke wondering what the hell that dream was about?
A few weeks later I was in a meditation circle. During the meditation I "felt" a eagle land on my left hand shoulder and a female deer nustle up underneath my right arm. At the end of the meditation I told the meditation leader this.
"Why they are totems", she said.
"Totems?" I asked somewhat dumbly.
"You should go buy a book called "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews" she said.
So off I went. The first thing I looked up was the raven. I then learnt that this had been my guide for the first 50 years of my life while I was traveling through life not really listening to myself. It had shown me in my dream that I no longer needed it. I was both so happy and sad to have not known about this wonderful guide. I then learnt that the eagle and the deer were some new guides for me. So...back to the dream.
I ask myself "Is the cat a symbol, a real cat or a totem?" Totem. Here's a short version of what Ted Andrews has to say about this:
"According to author Ted Andrews of Animal Speaks, cats wild or domestic have certain qualities in common. They are associated with myth and lore, magic and
mystery. Nine lives, curiosity, independence, cleverness, unpredictability and healing. Those with this medicine should also study its color, size and breed for a deeper understanding.
Cats have more rods in the retinas of their eyes which enable them to see effectively in the dark. The dark is often associated with mankind's fears. Since the car is at home in the dark, it serves as a valuable ally into the world of the supernatural and the unknown and can help those with this totem move through their fears efficiently.
The energy field of a cat rotates in a counterclockwise direction, the opposite of a human energy field. Because of this, cats have the ability to absorb and neutralize energy that affects humans in a negative way. This is part of the healing medicine that the cat holds.
If something affects you in a negative way place a cat on your lap or find a cat to pet. Your energy field will immediately realign itself and inner balance will be restored.
Because of their x-ray vision, acute hearing and high intelligence they were used throughout history as guardians and protectors. In ancient Egypt cats guarded the temple gates and were used to ward off evil.
If cat appears in your life the blending of magic and mystery is at hand. A trustworthy teacher, the cat will guide you into the world of self discovery and transformation. "
I am sitting here somewhat laughing at my own dream. Why?
What seemingly was horrific, i.e. the badly mangled cat, is me telling myself that it's time for me to spiritually wake up and listen to myself and the guidance of others, i.e. my cat guide. My guide is using a bedraggled form to let me know I haven't been listening very well to myself. It's also literally crying out for attention.
In this respect, the image of the cat is a spiritual image of myself, relative to the beliefs that this dream is about. I am sort of dragging myself somewhat unwillingly to face myself.
"Still watching myself in this dream I sat up from my sleep to look properly at the cat. As I did I was revolted. It was in ultimate pain and barely alive having been severed at the hind legs with the head of another quite distinct cat sewn onto its severed torso at the 4 quarter points with a single stitch. The dead head was more brown that the black and dark bloodied barely alive animal."
I am now spiritually sitting up, i.e. I am beginning to see the effects of my beliefs. I am revolted by what I see.
The cat, i.e. myself, had been severed at the behind. I recall I am lying down on a bed which has both sexual and out of body symbology. I am showing myself that my old ideas about myself sexually and about who I really am are now dead.
Further, I am also showing myself that my beliefs are also low vibration, i.e. black and brown. Colours are important in my dreams for they symbolize which points on my body the beliefs are affecting my chakras. Black and brown are low vibration colours.
And what did I do...
"Of course my immediate reaction was of revulsion and bewilderment at what sort of animal could have done such a thing to a creature, innocent or not. A will to have the culprit found and dealt with and a wish for this to never happen again overwhelmed me."
I want to blame someone and hold them to account...except it's my dream and it's about me! We have a number of beliefs that result in what I call "Command/control" surface level belief effects. These are mostly masculine polarity beliefs afraid of our feminine. As a result, we therefore erect walls around ourselves and frequently use force to enforce the beliefs.
If this was my dream, I would find a copy of Ted Andrews book and read the section on cats. If I didn't meditate, I would then set out to learn how to for I am at the edge of a grand spiritual adventure. I need to "tune into" myself much more than I have in the past. I would also keep a dream journal.
These two techniques, are free but hard to initially do. Yet, they offer two of the best ways to listen to and learn about ourselves.
I hope that some of what I have written above resonates within you.
With kind regards,
Guy

Dreams come and go but this one remains mostly vivid. It isn't nice so please don't read on if you are easily disturbed, seriously.
I will explain as much as I can remember.
I was in deep sleep and transitioned to a semi conscious REM sleep with the sound of a cat wailing. I was aware that I could see myself and my environment and the window. I could not see the source of the noise out of the window. I live 3 floors up. In my subconscious state I put it down to a cat wailing on heat and waited for it to stop. It did not stop and I eventually realised that it was becoming progressively closer at a slow pace. This went on for what seemed like 30 mins or so though I cannot be sure as still mostly asleep.
Confident that it was nothing more than my initial thoughts I was relaxed and curious. At some point the cat came into view from a distance and was moving as though injured. It looked raggy with damp clumped fur and seemed to be dragging itself in my direction with one of its paws. Oddly I was also aware that I was dreaming and was still relaxed. The cat kept on wailing and getting closer and the clumped, raggy fur had a sticky, very dark red tinge to it which I decided was was blood but could not be sure. That question was answered with dark red drag marks appearing, but not solid drag marks, they were; for want of a better term; token drag marks.
This was a constant for some time until eventually the cat had reached my bed or the foot of my bed, unsure which now but I place it on the bed. Still watching myself in this dream I sat up from my sleep to look properly at the cat. As I did I was revolted. It was in ultimate pain and barely alive having been severed at the hind legs with the head of another quite distinct cat sewn onto its severed torso at the 4 quarter points with a single stitch. The dead head was more brown that the black and dark bloodied barely alive animal.
Of course my immediate reaction was of revulsion and bewilderment at what sort of animal could have done such a thing to a creature, innocent or not. A will to have the culprit found and dealt with and a wish for this to never happen again overwhelmed me. I awoke from sleep in a highly disturbed and revolted state. Both at the dream and the fact that I dreamt it. Flashbacks throughout the day also disturbed me.
So I am open to any feedback or thoughts anyone may have on this or a potential translation of it.
