My pdoc in the past has had a stock of samples. I don't think he's necessarily influenced by the companies though because he'll write for other stuff. I've been on APs a couple times short-term and he just gave me samples so I didn't have to spend money. He did this for me with Saphris, Seroquel, and when I started Latuda. He also gave me samples when I was titrating on Lamictal. He gave me Deplin samples. And samples of a strong vitamin D. It was kind of nice not to have to buy the meds unless they worked for me.
