I got the 'too old' for birthday parties from my mom, too, probably around age 10. But, I probably had a best friend with me and at least a cupcake with a candle and Happy Birthday wishes.

In high school, I moved to a new school, and it was my birthday and all the kids took me out to lunch and celebrated. It was awesome!

You could round up friends and do that for someone, or make yourself a party with your best friends, or make up with your friends that you'll all celebrate each other's birthdays by going out or whatever.

It's fun to celebrate, and when you find a spouse, they will be happy that you like to give and celebrate, too.
