I'm on 200 mg of Lamictal, and it works pretty well for me. I tolerate it well- no side effects, although in rare cases, people get a rash. If you do get signs of the rash, see a doctor immediately, since some get a deadly rash (like I said, it's rare though). The tapering process takes forever, but once you are there, you should start to notice a difference. For me, it was a positive difference, although of course it's not for everyone. It seems to be a popular choice as a mood stabilizer for psychiatrists to use since it does not require blood work or as much monitoring as some of the other stabilizers, like Lithium, which is good.
Lamictal does not make me sleepy. I don't think it really makes me hyper, but I notice it being slightly activating in a way where it makes my Seroquel not as sedating as it would be otherwise (which is a good thing since Seroquel sometimes is very sedating, even during my first part of the day without extended release). This is my experience with it. Good luck!
