What do you mean its the only place around that is hiring? Have you looked on job-oriented job web cites? Or gone to your local temp agency? I'm not one to talk because I am currently unemployed, but I am out there looking at different possibilities. If you have social anxiety, then retail probably isn't such a good idea, at least to start. Especially one where ther isn't a barrier of some kind between you and the public. Put in your application, but look around as well.
