I have no personal experience with T3. I do know that it can be helpful for treatment resistant depression even if there is no medical need for T3. My endocrinologist has prescribed it for that purpose. I think usually it augments another anti-depressant like a tricyclic or SSRI, but I don't know if that is always the case.
