My pdoc was part of a big study on this a few years back. The study said it could be effective if augmenting existing medications. Still my pdoc wouldn't give to me either and I am hypothyroid. There are only two tests they'd do for thyroid blood levels amd they usually only do one- the TSH. The other tests for T4 I think. Even with the positive results of the study I think most psychiatrists won't give t3 because it isn't their specialty and there hasn't been enough support from endocrinologists on the issue.
