If you are able to get to a teaching hospital they tend to have really great doctors on staff. So much so that I drive 2.5 hours each way to see my pdoc. It's also helpful in that the psych unit is connected to the hospital so if I'm IP my pdoc is involved/kept up to date and offered the chance to override giving meds she doesn't want me on. She's not my dr while IP but just is able to participate.
