When I was "committed" at the end of my conventional hospital stay; I said very little because it was a prison. I was in pain, couldn't sleep but hid it because I didn't want to do anything that would make me have to stay any longer in that place. I am a talkative person but said very little to the other patients as well. It felt like a straitjacket. An involuntary stay in mental health facilities can cause more problems than they solve. So I think the only type of therapist that would be effective if I had SI would be one that would handle it in ways like taking phone calls, responding to emails and finding additional sessions on their calendar. I am fortunate that I have a therapist who will call me back when I can't take it. This only happened once but the fact that she got back to me as soon as she could helped me trust her more.
