If your health is not okay then you can't do anything else. True? Okay, so let's start by being honest with the psychiatrist by telling him your thinking is delusional and you're having urges to self-harm. Yes, I believe you do need to be inpatient. However, being inpatient is not a "trap," but a great place to receive resources. Make sure you see the social worker and line up a plan for what you're going to do after you leave the hospital. You'll need a psychiatrist on the outside to prescribe meds, and maybe the social worker can help line you up with a therapist. Be honest with them, and take advantage of all the resources the hospital offers.
