The other atypical antipsychotics that your insurance would probably cover are Risperdal, Seroquel, Geodon, and Abilify. All of those are available as generics. My personal favorite that I have taken for 15 years is Seroquel. I started it after being on Zyprexa and gaining lots of weight I would caution that Seroquel isn't completely weight neutral, but I thought it was a lot better than Zyprexa. I haven't taken Geodon, but many people here take it and could share their experiences.

A mood stabilizer might be an option given you are schizoaffective bipolar type. Lamictal is a good mood stabilizer that would help with your depressive symptoms. However, it does take a while to get to a therapeutic dose. It wouldn't help right away.
