Okay... I never really thought of myself as ADHD until this counselor (MS level... social worker) suggested it based on my patterns of extreme changes in interests, frequent job changes, financial problems, etc... with episodes of depression. I went in there for help with depression and it was a 'free' consultation available to the spouses of people who work for the local hospital. He sent the recommendation to my general practice doctor.. and adderall. And that was it. I never had problems with hyperactivity and attention as a school kid. Just a WAY over active imagination. Anyway... I just feel like the right questions were not asked. I remember he asked me if I ever felt like 'superman'. Well... that didn't really strike a chord. I guess I took it too literally. :-) Now if I would have been asked if I sometimes felt way overconfident getting into things that I had no prior experience with followed by money spending. Not to mention sexual escapades. Well... things might have went differently.
The interesting thing is that since I've started lamictal and zoloft... I'm way more focused. I honestly think that whenever I have an attention deficit... it's when I'm depressed. Nothing really holds my interest.
