Hi Jacq,
I'm sure YOU'RE happy that your own surgery is over! Who would have thought! I thought it was going to be bad, then I was reassured by everybody, and then it was actually a mother's nightmare!!!!!!!!! The Recovery Room and the first day in the hospital were just indescribable. I feel for your poor mother.
No, they didn't have tape over my daughter's mouth because she wouldn't have been able to breathe. Lol. She had a tube down each nostril, plus the breathing mask for her mouth. Her lips dried out because she couldn't lick them, but she was given lotion for that.
Actually, everyone was very surprised how good she looked after that first day. In fact, she hardly bruised at all. It was weird. When she began to bruise, it would be days later and they were the color of healing bruises....you could barely see them. She had a big bruise (later, of course, and yellow as it was disappearing. Lol) that ran right across her chest from shoulder to shoulder. I guess they have to hold you down somehow.
She basically only had chipmunk cheeks that made her look sooooo cute. And she was talking on the first day once she got most of the blood out of her stomache (which took about 20 hours or so). I asked the surgeon if it was normal for a patient to look this well and to be talking so soon, and he just shook his head no. He said that his assistant told him that she didn't even look like she had been through that type of surgery. Ahhh....to be young and healthy!!!
You know, she'd probably come out of a car accident without a single bruise or any soreness. LOL. That's my girl!!!!
Talk later.
God bless,
Sandy
