Thanks everyone. For those out there who are also curious, I'll let you know how it goes with the extended release when comparing it, just in case it would help anyone else out there wondering.

I know with some meds, esp like the adhd ones, the longer acting medications keep your symptoms away at a more even keel, rather than the roller coaster/bellcurve that the 4 hr ones put people on. my kids were on 4 hr, 6 hr and then 10 hr formulations of ritalin back in the old days and the longer ones were so much better.
So Imagine that's what we should be expecting too with lamictal xr...more even moods.

Thank you for sharing. I am hoping it will do exactly that....keep me on an even keel. For years, I've been on the regular release Lamictal where I take 2 doses (12 hours apart). I've been on a rollercoaster with my moods, although there was a period of time where I did feel stable on the regular Lamictal. My pdoc slightly increased the XR dose, which I start tomorrow. Lithium is the Plan B (or will be added on to Lamictal) if there's no difference with Lamictal XR at an increased dose.
