I have a 3-month old Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff) puppy. We've had her for about 6 weeks.
THE GOOD STUFF: She's highly intelligent and wants to train. She's super soft, and when she's tired she's lovely to pet. She is old enough now to sleep through the night without having to get up to go to the bathroom (the first 4 weeks were HELL). She will eventually be an awesome family/guard dog. She wants to play with, but not eat, our cat, older dog, kids, and chickens. She does not charge at people visiting the house or pester them for attention (our older dog is a labrador - attention hound). She generally minds me pretty well, depending on the distractions around. She's super adorable and I can tell she'll grow into a beautiful adult dog.
CHALLENGES: She's teething, which can be a problem. She tries to mouth all of us frequently; we're getting there with putting toys in her mouth while we pet her so she doesn't chew on us. She is very playful and wants to play with both my kids & our cat, but she does so by rushing at them, biting their clothes (kids)/tail (cat), or nipping at legs/feet with her puppy teeth. We're working on that, too. She still has pee accidents in the house on occasion. She tries to jump up on the couch and chairs like our cat does - she's only 28ish pounds right now, but will be 110+ at full size; she will not be allowed on the furniture. We have to have eyes on her at all times when she's in the house, so I have to keep the hallway blocked off. I can't walk away from her for a second in the house, which is exhausting.
